""After years of trying to conceive I eventually went to a gynaecologist who suggested I try acupuncture. I had tried most other things & had no luck. I started in November 2010, I was a little sceptical at first, but really enjoyed it. I went every week in Nov & Dec, low & behold in the middle of Jan I went to Dr only to find out i was 6 week pregnant, I still cant believe it. Thanks Jonathan"

Acupuncture has been successfully used to treat fertility for thousands of years, but the first Western medical research wasn’t published until 2002 by Paulus. The study showed that of the 80 women who underwent IVF and received acupuncture, 34 women got pregnant, a success rate of 42.5%. Of the 80 women involved in the study who received IVF without any acupuncture treatments, only 21 women (26.3%) became pregnant. Evidence was again shown in the British Medical Journal meta-analysis, published in 2008 which reported a 65% increase in pregnancy success rates, 85% increase in on-going pregnancy and 91% increase in live births.
Both the above studies show that women undergoing IVF who receive acupuncture treatments have a much higher chance of conceiving than those who do not have acupuncture.
