Try Acupuncture for anxiety

Testimonial

"Since childhood I have battled with Major Depression (MDD) and anxiety which, as a young adult, only got progressively worse. My condition was greatly compounded by Post Natal Depression (PND) after having each of my three babies. In the past, after my first two pregnancies, I relied on psychotherapy and very heavy medications to bring my mind and body back to balance. After the birth of my third baby, I desperately wanted to avoid the heavy medications due to their various side effects. I tried a variety of holistic treatments before I stumbled on one of Jonathans ads for his clinic. Having heard wonderful things about acupuncture from friends who had gone and had treatments for fertility, cancer pain management, mood disorders, and a variety of other reasons, I was really excited to give it a go. I noticed significant results after just the first session, and each following session only got better and better. My moods stabilized more quickly than they had in the past with medications and my energy levels also got a great boost. Whats more is the effects have been long lasting. I truly and honestly attribute my fast psychological healing to acupuncture and the wonderful job that Jonathan did. I couldnt possibly express how grateful I am for acupuncture giving me back my life and my husband and children back their wife and mother. Its like a breath of fresh air being able to finally feel like myself once again. I would absolutely recommend acupuncture to anyone suffering from any sort of mood disorder as a compliment to all their other efforts towards improving their mental health. It really works. "

Acupuncture for Anxiety

I treat patients for stress and anxiety on a daily basis. Acupuncture gets you back on track quickly with very positive results

Most of us have experience anxiety at some point in our lives but it can become a problem and impact on all aspects of you life.

Anxiety symptoms include:

• shallow breathing

• Racing heart

• Broken sleep

• Restlessness

• Feeling wired and can’t switch off

• Shaky, jumpy

• Fearful

• Fatigued

• lack of appetite or digestive disturbance

Modern life is so busy, we are busy juggling so many things that many of us end up in a chronic state of anxiety, running on adrenaline.

The modern medicine Approach to Anxiety

Your GP may prescribe medication such as anti-depressants, anti anxiety medication or beta blockers.  You could be offered talking therapies.

Talking therapies such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) are beneficial but is not for everyone and indeed does not work for everyone and I know most people would rather avoid mediation and their side effects.

How does Acupuncture reduce Anxiety?

Acupuncture is an incredibly powerful treatment that is scientifically proven to reduce anxiety levels from the first treatment.

Here’s the science bit!

The body secretes an assortment of hormones into the bloodstream as a reaction to stress. Researchers measured hormone levels secreted by the hypothalamus, the pituitary and the adrenal gland (HPA) and NPY involved in the “fight or flight” response.

They found that “Acupuncture blocks the chronic, stress-induced elevations of the HPA axis hormones and the sympathetic NPY pathway.

Essentially by inserting painless needles at specific points in the body, acupuncturists can effect actual chemical changes in parts of the brain to reduce anxiety and make long-term changes.

.

How will I feel afterwards?

Even during your treatment you will start to feel a sense of calm.  You will feel more aware of your body and your breathing will deepen.  The thoughts that were whirring around in your head will quieten.

I hear these sorts of comments from patients:

After the treatment I felt calmer than I have in months.

The stress in my life hasn’t actually changed, but I have an inner strength and can cope, things aren’t bothering me as much.”

I’m not waking up at 4am anymore worrying about my to do list.”
